The Project

The GIANTS methodology is based on five concepts

GREEN

Aside from being pure electric, GIANTS vehicles will be based on sustainability by design, facilitating easy and low-cost repair through modular design. Use of solar supported charging will reduce the need for external charging energy in regions with low-level grid infrastructure and/or high shares of fossil fuels in electricity mix. Vehicles will allow for use of locally manufactured components and assembly by local companies. High level of local manufacturing (e.g. manufacturing under license) will reduce transport energy requirements in supply chains. Reduced demand for public space for transport opens up space to offer e.g. local green oasis to reduce urban heat and shared spaces for improved social sustainability.

INTELLIGENT

GIANTS vehicles will include IoT capable components with control- and information systems that allow the communication with a digital twin able to allow user-centric energy management, to make end-of-life predictions, and to deliver maintenance strategies.

AFFORDABLE

GIANTS vehicles are based on frugal design of modular components and affordability in terms of economic and ecological perspectives. GIANTS light-vehicle OEMs already implement local manufacturing under license options, thus allowing partners in emerging countries to benefit from lower local and material costs, which in turns reduces investment costs. Furthermore, such scheme increases local/regional value added.

NEW

GIANTS vehicles are considered new L category vehicles, which will be better suited to mission requirements than existing solutions both in L-class as well as N1- and M-class

TRANSPORT SOLUTION

GIANTS offers solutions for both passenger and cargo transport particularly suited for the requirements of urban regions, reducing the demand on public space required for transport and allowing urban administrations to implement modern, green solutions for urban living.
