GIANTS took part in this year’s Clean Air Asia Conference in Bangkok, a key event dedicated to exploring how sustainable mobility can significantly improve air quality and enhance the liveability of rapidly growing cities across Asia. With its strong focus on reducing air pollution, mitigating the climate crisis and improving public health, the conference represents an essential platform for GIANTS and our mission.
Together with the valuable contributions of our partners at the Wuppertal Institut für Klima, Umwelt, Energie gGmbH, the event highlighted several crucial insights for the future of sustainable mobility:
- System-wide transformation requires coordinated action. Infrastructure, incentives and governance must work hand in hand to accelerate the shift toward cleaner mobility solutions.
- A shift in mobility priorities is essential. Moving away from large private vehicles toward affordable, resource‑efficient and accessible transport options is key to reducing emissions.
- Charging infrastructure remains a major challenge. Integrating electric charging systems into existing power grids continues to be one of the biggest hurdles for cities striving for sustainable transportation.
- Innovation is gaining momentum. Approaches such as battery swapping are becoming increasingly relevant, while demand grows for lightweight, city‑adapted and highly efficient vehicles.
Participating in the Clean Air Asia Conference has been a highly valuable experience for GIANTS. It not only provided important takeaways for our ongoing work but also strengthened our connections with other projects and initiatives tackling the same challenges across the region. The exchange of knowledge, ideas and best practices reinforces our commitment to driving sustainable mobility forward.
